Hole tapping question

Take a careful look at what remains. I've sorta forgotten, but I think some of those bolts are completely through the flange. This means you might find extra, virgin threads that a longer bolt could grab. It also means you could stick a longer bolt completely through and slap a nut on the top side.

You're not going for engineering purity here, but merely to hold the pan on securely. You'll probably never go in there again.

Hell, you could even tap to the next larger SAE size (I've done it without blinking an eye). If the original's a 6mm bolt, the next larger size is probably 5/16". You might need to "ease" the hole in the pan, but so what?
