Whats up with my dash gauges and idle? 700

I was reading the airbox temp thread down below. Could this be a possibility? I mean the flap in the box is always stuck in the hot air position, could this cause bad fuel mileage and some other things I mentioned? I guess I could test it by wiring the flap shut, so that only cold air comes in, or remove the whole flap assembly and close off the side closest to the engine.
