differential swap 200 1980

I have a 262c with a b21f transplanted into it. The rear end is making some pretty nasty noises and I know it is only a matter of time until it locks up completely. How difficult is it to swap rear ends and what gear ratio would be best for a little zip around town without compromising highway mileage. BTW I have a 4 speed with overdrive. If you could briefly outline the swap procedure I would be very appreciative.

Matt
