question about check engine light 700 1989

The light comes on to indicate time for an oil change. It can easily be rest at the back of the speedo by pushing the reset button. The instrument panel has screws hidden in the corners under those little rectangle plastic things. Remove screws and pull out enough to get your hand behind then feel around behind the speedo. There is a button than will reset the speedo. You may have to take the panel right out to see what you are looking for first time you do it. Mine is a white button, but others report a black button. You'll hear a click when it resets. Read the FAQ section. Good luck
