Check Engine Light - Dilemma 200

G'Day Bricksters,

My '93 240 with 185K miles has been running well but when my wife drove it yesterday on the interstate, the car "hesitated" (lost power) for approximately one second and the Check Engine light came on and stayed on. Ran fine after that incident and now is giving me apuzzle...

I thought well, I'll check the diagnostic codes to see what the problem is and was surprised that there were no codes stored in the diagnostic unit.

The light has stayed on and still shows no codes.

The engine seems to run fine - I will do the plugs, wires, cap and rotor for good measure as it is about time to do that anyway.

Any wisdom that you can share with me as to why I am not getting any codes, yet the check engine light is staying on?

How does one clear the Check Engine light?

Thanks very much in advance...
