I was not able to get in touch with Bill Chebb. Did not have any luck in the search for parts at the barn. Bought a new Siemans replacement motor from the Canadian Tire store, $51.00 cdn. + tax, this is a permanant magnet type unit and needs a resistor and a different switch to change speeds, went to a friends shop who has some scrap 240's, picked up a resistor and switch ( the dealer wanted $330.00 for a unit with the resistor and switch).I had to do a small amount of cutting on the inside of the case to allow the round motor to fit in, put everything back together and it seems to work great. One question, the positive supply lead that fed the switch in the 240 installation was of a much larger gauge than the supply lead on the 144 indicating perhaps that the permanant magnet motor draws more current? I used the existing 15 amp fuse and it does run ok. My consern is that the motor draw could exceed the capacity of the wire under load and cause a melting problem. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
