OK I'm ready to give up now... 200 1988

I'm back,

I said I'd post my findings, here's what I've got:

Symptom once again is:

Car starts from cold normally, then about 20 seconds later the idle turns rough and emits rich, black smoke -no misfire, just rich running. A few minutes later it all clears up and runs perfectly. If I try to drive the car when it's running rich, it quits and won't fire up again unless I wait a few minutes.

-If I disconnect the Air mass meter with engine cold, symtom persists. Maybe it's my ohm meter, but I get no resistance at all from the AMM on terminals 2&3.

-Temp sensor connection seems good and I again get no resistance from it either(?)

-O2 sensor gives .1 - .2 volts hot or cold (?)

(I did test my meter on the car's battery and it gave 13.4 volts, so I believe the meter is working)

-On top of all that. I can't find the fuel pump relay under the passenger-side dash to check that.

Thanks,
-Chris-
