How does that flap in the airbox actually work? 700

As some of you know, I tie wrapped the flap to only get cold air. But how does this flap actually work? I pushed down that brass button which moved the flap to the cool air side, but what pushes it down when your driving? Above the button the air filter, so not from there. The flap is also very stiff, so it has to be pretty strong to move it. Is there some sort of contraption underneath the airbox that opens it up when its up to temp?
