Speedo Disassembly 700

The speedometer in my '86 740 has for years been sticky. The odometer worked fine, but the needle moved slow and never really read accurately unless you tapped the dash a few times. I took the dash apart and poked around. When I put it back together the gauge toasted and now the odometer doesn't work either.

I bought an instrument cluster from a wrecker and would like to reset the odometer numbers to what mine are. I read the FAQ, but I can't figure out how to take the face off the speedo. The three screws that would let me take it apart are facing the wrong way, and there's no way to get a screwdriver on them.

Any hints?
