Downshift arrow light is stuck on. Help?? 900 1993

I've got a 1993 940turbo that runs like a champ. For about the last six months, every now and then the arrow on the dashboard would come on indicating that I chose to not allow the car to go into overdrive. I'd either turn the car off and on again or just push the button on the gear shift and it would go off and run like normal. However, now it's pretty much stuck on all the time and the car won't go into overdrive. Other than that it runs great. Any ideas? I'm not a mechanic but is this something I could fix myself? Thanks for the help.
