700/900 Shift Pattern 900

Hello,

I'm trying to find out information on the 700/900 series auto shifters. I have heard that pre~92 Volvo auto shifters used a constant spacing shift pattern. Meaning the distance between all gears is the same. In '92 this supposedly went to a non-constant spacing, where P/R distance was larger than other gears.

Can anybody refute or deny the stories I have been told?

thanks,
simon
