putting newer N/A engine in my N/A '83 200 1983

Is it pretty easy to drop in an engine out of a '88-93 240 other than maybe a few little electrical issues? My '83 240 has almost 300,000 on the odometer and it just feels a bit tired. For the price of a rebuild (new injectors; head/ cylinder/crank work, etc.) i could probably get a drivetrain out of a newer 240.

I'm not gonna bother trying to put a turbo engine in because i want to save my money for a V8 conversion in future. I'm sure the engine i've got now will last until then, but i'd rather have a newer engine in the present that i'd feel confident modding slightly without worrying about putting too much strain on it and having something break.

So is this feasable? I'm pretty mechanically and electronically capable. TIA
