940 GLE suspension hard and knocky 900 1992

Hi all,

The suspension on my 1992 940 GLE (65K) feels somewhat stiff. I unfortunately have no baseline to compare this to. I bought the car two years ago, and always felt this. Is it possible the shocks are slowly seizing? Does this happen a lot, or does this car have a somewhat stiffer suspension as compared to large american cars? At what interval should I expect to change the shocks/struts?

Also, I sense some minor knocking all around (not front tie rods or ball joints though, had them check recently, not steering). I do not know if this is expected to a certain degree. Should I expect the suspension to be dead silent? Susp bushings or something? Is this common?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!
