Vanishing Oil 200

I have a 93 240 with about 115000 miles on it. About 2 months ago, I had a fairly bad rear main seal leak (substantial amount of oil on pavement everyday)which was repaired by a mechanic. About a month later, I noticed that the engine seemed much louder than normal with a churning noise. I checked the oil and it was bone dry. I thought it was strange, but not knowing much about cars and since I didn't notice any oil leaking I just put a quart of oil in and then took the car in to get the oil changed that day. Now a few weeks since the oil change, I still haven't noticed any oil leaking, but the engine is still loud and I checked the oil and it is pretty low. I plan to take the car into my mechanic who works on volvos monday, but I like to have a little knowledge of what I am talking about because, unfortunately I do not trust him completely.

Also, one of the belts has been squealing really bad, but not all the time. I was told it was the bushings. Could this be related?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.
