960 Flame trap (with picture) 900 1998

I was going to check the flame trap on my wife's S90. According to FAQ, "flame trap is in the rear of the air intake runner, which is the big air hose between the Throttle Body and Air Mass Meter". I think I found it (see picture below).
How do I get inside? I am afraid I will break something if I apply too much force. What is the trick? These new clamps seem very unfriendly. What is this yellow cord doing there?
