Blower Motor Questions- IPD directions 200 1985

I downloaded and printed the IPD directions to change the blower motor and they seem really good. The only question I have is they mention drilling a unspecified size hole with a right angle drill from the inside of the blower motor housing so condensate cannot accumulate. Does this apply to my 1985 or just previous years? I thought my car had the infamous drain that always clogs up and floods the floorboards. Also, the FCP-Groton instructions that came with my parts aren't very clear about what lug on the blowers switch to use for A/C. Do I just need to observe as I disassemble and reassemble in a similar fashion? Thanks in advance.
