Heidi, our 91 240 DL has 126k and is exhibiting what I think to be strut noise. A random clunk clunk in the front right wheel area. this noise is not specifically related to turning, sometimes it occurs at straight and level. Most definitely pronounce when wet (I can't figure out why). Here's my question. We are planning a 300 mi one way trip. is there something I should be looking for to predict or prevent catastrophic failure, or better yet, is there such a thing as catastrophic failure? I will be ordering parts as soon as I figure out what to replace. On another note....is there a quick way to tell whether these noises are the struts?
