Engine won't turn off 120-130 1968

Thanks George,

I had a good search and couldn't see a ballast resistor anywhere (they are the big ceramic type, aren' they?). So I checked all the wiring and pulled all connectors apart, gave all the fuses a good wriggle.

Lo and behold, the altenator warning light came on, and after it started, I was able to turn it off. I don't know what the problem was, but I'm convinced there is a connection between the warning light not coming on, and the car not turning off.

By the way, after I got it all OK, I fitted the pertronix ignitor I've had in the shed for a while. Noticable cleaner idle, rock steady on the timing light. I also took the opportunity to pull the dizzy to bits and clean and oil the advance mechanism.

Regards

John
