Average gas Mileage 700 1991

Hey guys,
I was wondering also...
What is the -average- gas mileage for a Volvo 740 (1991) non turbo under normal driving conditions, town and highway. This makes no sense, but I get 20.13 mp/g no matter all city or all highway. This is under normal driving conditions as well, and when I am feeling frisky on a Friday night and go tooling around, its still at 20, even racing! Its kinda weird, I thought there should be a difference, and at bare minimum something like 27 on highway? I am very consistent with oil changes (like every 2800 as a precaution because she has 182,000 on her), did the wires, those new flashy Bosch platinum +4 plugs, and "purolator plus". Even before this it was the same, so If anyone has had a similar situation please share. I have to drive to college all year, and at 1.57 for 89 octane you know 90 miles a day 5 days a week is not cheap for a poor old college guy. Was going to take to dealership, but again its mega mega expensive to put her on "the diagnostic computer". If anyone lives in Central MA area and would like to talk, just reply. Love to swap stories
Thanks soo much in advance,
steve
