Installed Engine&Trannie, doesnt match up with driveline... HELP!! **NEW** Got it fixed!! 200

I figured it out. I forgot to put spacers in between the tranny mount and the frame to give it about "1/4 drop. That drop allowed it to make up the lost space between the driveline and the auto trans. Also to note for all those wondering, it did require some pulling to get the driveline and transmission back flush. After removing the engine and tranny, I rolled the car in and out of the shop to get something out. That rolling allowed the driveline to slip back in the rubber boot. The boot has a pretty good seal so it was not too easy to get it pulled through, but it did. Thanks again guys!


---Old Message---Ok, I purchased a '83 244 GLT that had a blown turbo motor. The trannie was good (auto with o/d) I took the blown engine and good trannie out and mounted a good 4cyl B21F from my '80 244 DL. The '80 had a manual 4 spd trannie. The transfer from manual to auto was easy enough but when I put the engine in yesterday there was a space of about 1/4" between the driveline and the transmission. What do I do??? Did I do anything wrong? I mean the trannie is the same, I did not change it, so the length should be the same and the engine is right up against the firewall like it should...

any advice would be helpfull!
