Dome Light Delay 900

Does anyone know where the delay is that allows the dome light to stay on when you close the door?
And does anyone know how to remove it?
Every time I close my door at night, I have to keep looking back as I walk to the house to make sure the door shut properly.
This is my third car that has this "feature". Am I the only one who's annoyed by this?

Thanks,

Jeff Pierce
