Fuel problem?? 200 1983

Picked up an 83 Turbo wagon in immaculate condition except for some minor things. One thing I can't really put my finger on. Car starts fine, idles fine and runs fine for about the first 6 miles. After that if you give it a lot of pedal it sputters like it is not getting enough fuel, boost is good. Changed the plugs, O2 sensor (was shot)as I am doing my new car maint. Fuel level doesn't matter, I do hear intermittent noise from main pump. Thinking I will change fuel filter (even though it looks new) and then maybe look towards the injectors. Any input? Pressure regulator?

Thanks

Doug
