rear suspension question 200 1982

I've been rolling around under the car to try to find a clunk in the front suspension with no luck. However, when I set the car back down, I rocked it back and forth while in gear and noticed that the rear differential would deflect up and down over an inch at the driveshaft end. I'm wondering if this is normal or are my torque rod bushings shot? This is an 82 245 glt.

Also would like to thank all who have answered my recent flurry of questions, I hope to be able to repay the favor when my learning curve flattens out a bit.

Bob
