Overheating Problem 1995

I bought a 960, 1995 Wagon in December w/72K miles. Very nice.....excellent maintenance records, second owner. I should have been suspicious that the radiator had been replaced (in a 5 year old car, at the time). Anyway, we experienced overheating when the outdoor temps averaged 90+. Good mechanic found the radiator fan had not been grounded, hence it wasn't running. He fixed, filled AC with freon (air conditioning had not worked at all), and one week later the "Check Engine" light appeared. The mechanic is doing a diagnostic, "as I type", but hasn't yet identified what's wrong. Any input is would be very much appreciated! I'm rapidly losing confidence in the car and am wondering if I should trade it. Thanks......
