stalling problem, possibly fuel pump? 200 1987

I have an 87 240 GL and the car just died on me the other day without warning. Couldn't restart it for a few minutes and when I drove it, it would have trouble accelerating (would hover around 2500 rpm then kick and continue accelerating). Died a couple more times on me on my way back home especially when coming to a stoplight, would have to wait a couple minutes before I could start it up again. It also sputtered pretty bad a couple times just after start up. There is definitly a loud intermittent buzzing noise coming from the main fuel pump. Any suggestions for repairs? And if so, how much would it cost and how hard is it (any special tools necessary)? I have a bentley manual, and have checked the ignition system, injector connectors, ECU and ICU connections, air mass meter connections, and all fuses. Any help is greatly appreciated.
