Timing Belt Guide Plate 200 1988

88 245DL B230F...

After completing my last timing belt job, it's time to fess up. The belt wants to walk off the gears, working itself toward the front of the motor, and is beginning to saw into the timng belt cover.

What I think I did during reassembly is install the little guide plate on the crankshaft BACKWARDS and it is not keeping the belt centered during rotation.

What else could it be? Thanks and humbly submitted. Other than a tear down again to reinstall the errant guide plate, all else looks OK.
