where is the boost cutoff switch???????????? 700 1988

Hi Bud,

Is that definite? Just curious, is all. The only 2 turbos I have real experience of (my racer and this taxi i'm using in between bricks) both have overboost switches mounted on the intercoolers. These cut the boost electronically, by cutting the ignition (or every 2nd spark, sdame as the rev limiter) on the racer and shutting the fuel pump off via the solenoid on the wheezil. It's quite possible the sevens don't and rely soley on the wastegate, but this seems a bit crude to me, even by Volvos agricultural (in the good sense of the word) standards, bearing in mind a wastegate is really there to mechanically set the maximum boost and cut excess boost when not required (such as during gear changes), rather than act as a limiter to over boosting (which it would do in a primitive manner).

Thanks for advising a curious seven newbie.

Big Rich.
