Hot weather stalling followed by rapid re-start 700 1988

I have a dumb (i.e., common) question about my 1988 n/a 740. I am having no particular problems currently with engine performance, acceleration, idle, etc., except that recently in the hot weather we have had in the Midwest (90 - 100 F), it has occasionally stalled out when coming to a stop after running hard for quite a while. If I shut off the ignition, then start it again, it always cranks right back up immediately, (which is a nice thing when it drops dead at a stoplight). In fact, it's really not a big deal to me as long as the problem doesn't get any worse. It's not too much of an aggravation to re-start it in traffic every once in a while. I'm just curious what the likely causes might be, whether it might be symptomatic of a bigger problem, and what I could try to do to fix it. AT first when this would happen, I thought the car was overheating, but after checking the cooling system and the temperature gauge, I'm pretty sure it's not. I believe it's either a fuel and/or ignition problem, but I'm not sure what. The spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter have been changed in the past year -- nothing else has. What else do you think I should look to next? I appreciate the help and the advice.
