Tranny Slips after driving for about 30 minutes... I mean BAD.. forward in reverse and all that good stuff!! 200

Got my bertone running half decent.. and half decent is really good for a PVR V6... (BTW I fixed my oil pressure problem... won't say how though.. thats a secret between me and a lonely wire that was eventually reunited with its male counterpart on the oil pressure sender.. lol)

Naturally once one thing is fixed something else has gotta break...

Here's the deal:

Tranny works OK when car has not been run for a couple hours.. it still shifts a little rough and takes a tad bit of revving to get its ass in gear but its definately driveable.. now once you drive for like half an hour or so it starts slippin BAD.. the other nite I was playing at a club with some friends of mine and I had been goin all over town so the car was on for at least an hour... anywayz by the time we get downtown its slipping like mad... had to rev it to like 4,000 before it would move...we are trying to parallel park my ride downtown.. this is hard as hell to do because you had to rev the hell out of the car before it would catch and then it would try to take off.. it was in reverse and it was going FORWARD.. not rolling like lotta power makin my car go forward. When the bars closed and we got all the gear packed into my ride it started up and drove back just fine.. fine considering my friend puked all over the side of my car (but thats a whole nother story and leather cleans up easy and I needed to wash my car again anyway).

So broken down...

When cold it shifts a little rough but it is driveable..

Once it has been moving in stop and go traffic for about half an hour it is not happy and requires lots of revving to get moving from a dead stop and slips.

Once the car sits still for a couple hours its good to go.

I already flushed out the old stuff (I know you can't get ALL of it out but at least it is red now and not brown anymore.. the old fluid was nastier than all hell.. looked like some really used engine oil.)

The only thing I can think of is that little filter screen thing could be clogged up and restricting the flow of tranny fluid and everything is fine and dandy but once it gets going for a while its not circulating the fluid so well and the fluid is gettin too hot resulting is slipping.. but if I KNEW that for sure then I wouldn't be askin ya'll now would I..

`

thats just my guess/hope cuz if its more serious then I may just retire the bertone for a few months and buy this Merkur XL4ti or something like that.. 2.3L Turbo with 5 speed since i can pick that up for hella cheap and ride that car around till I get the money from the insurance company for medical bills and what not (if ya didn't know my 87' Camry got totalled by some dumb ass lady who wasn't paying attention.. bought the car for $500 and got like $2500 settlement for it.. heheheh.... that paid for my bertone.. then even though my insurance company is paying for my medical bills I still get rembursed for doctor bills that I never had to pay for.. plus with even a half assed lawyer I can get double that amount.. which would bring me to about 4,000 or 5,000 bucks. that 350LT1 6 Speed Bertone Coupe!!!! well maybe a lil more than $5000 if I want a 6 speed but ehh we will see. I just don't want to put a whole lot of money into something I'm going to be throwing away (engine and tranny)..

Right now all I gots is the bertone though so I need to made it work for more than 30 minutes of driving.

SO WHADDYA think? Also what the hell kinda tranny is in a 80' 262 Bertone Coupe.. for some strange reason I would almost bet money that its a BW55 but Im not sure.. What can I look for on the tranny to identify it? (Yeah I know its kinda a dumb question but I just got this car and haven't had much time to wrench on it all that much aside from what NEEDS to get done.
