turbo bearings 700 1987

I have this nice 740 Turbo '87 (the turbo is a Mitsubishi TD05). When I accelerate the turbo boosts nicely and the car has a lot of power. But as soon I go off the pedal I hear a snarling sound from the rigth side of the engine like if a wheel is still turning with high rpms. So I thought the turbo bearings got damaged. Today I took the hoses off on the air side and spun the copmressor wheel - it ran smoothly and easy and there is also no play. So what else could it be or is this sound usual. I also have a little bit oil in the airside hoses (should i use a different oil??) I live in South-CA - so with higher temperatures a thicker oil would be better (which one?)
thanx ;-)
