Big groove in front brake disc 900 1991

Hi all,

Yesterday I discovered a somewhat large groove on the inner surface of the driver's side front brake disc on my 940. The groove is about 2mm wide. There is a corresponding ridge on the brake pad. The discs are ATE brand and about 20 months old.
My question is will this cause a reduction in braking efficiency? It caught me by surprise when I saw it as I have heard no noises and the last time the pads were off about 2 months ago I'm reasonably sure that groove wasn't there.
Did something get caught on the pad maybe?
What do you think.

Thank you
Brad 91 940GL
