how to remove sedan antenna mast? 700 1998

I'm replacing an antenna mast that's slightly bent and won't retract. The 700/900 FAQ doesn't actually say exactly how to remove the old antenna mast from the housing; any clues? The unit I bought has no instructions.

Also - how is the antenna unit attached at the bottom? There's a flexible tube at the bottom of the motor unit, but I'm concerned about reattaching it in close quarters if I take the whole thing out.

The cable housing is to reveal the cable takeup gear; I don't mind putting the thing together in the bottom of the car once I can replace the mast. Thanks!

Josh
