Does anyone out there have a 240 with air conditioning that actually works in this heat? 200 1987

I have had many volvos and known many people with them and have rarely seen one that would freeze you out like american cars. To top it off the car in question is a wagon with even more area to try to cool.Right now the car is in need of a recharge. Should I even bother or is it a waste of time and money? The heat here in Cincinnati is unreal in the summer and I hate hot weather but mine hasn't worked for 7 years. How can I know if it is just going to leak off again? Have the dye test run?
