dipswitch followup 120-130 1965

Well, I've been really interested in the thread about the turn signal operated dipswitch. I converted mine with a 144 relay, and something very similar to JohnMc' story happened last week-end on my way to Paris: everything went dark on a country road and heavy smoke came out of under the dashboard... I had just enough time to switch everything off before the wire frome the light switch to the relay caught on fire... 30 minutes of rewiring the son of a b... on the road side (at 4 am with laughing french people passing by...) later I was back on the tarmac. but without main beam, you can't go fast on french roads. Now I've been looking for a replacement relay but the one I found seems outrageously expensive. 144's get hard to find here in Switzerland, so I've been pleased to read George's post about a VW relay. Could you tell me which model it was taken from and possibly other cars that might be a part source. That'd save some money to buy gas: 122's are best on the road, not on the parking lot...

Thanks for help!
