singing 240 200 1992

My 1992 240 has developed a strange noise under acceleration. It almost sounds like it has grown a turbo but, alas, none to be found. The noise is definitely coming from the engine compartment as it also occurs when opening the throttle with transmission in park.

Any thoughts?
