Electrical Blunder! 200 1986

hey- i have an 86 245dl, and there's something real odd going on with my headlights and stuff. lemme explain.

everything is fine when i have my headlights off and i start my car. Then, when i go to turn on my parks or headlights, my rear defrost light comes on and stays. now, while my car is running, i cannot turn off my parking lights. my headlights go out, but my parking lights stay on. when i move the switch over to Off, my courtesy lamps and dash lights just dim a little bit. again, they do not turn off. Now, when my parking lights are on only, i can turn my ignition off and pull out the key, but the car will continue to run. The battery light dimly glows. The car will continue to run until I move the switch to Off, then it will stop.

Also, whenever my car is off and i turn my parking lights on, the car acts as if the ignition is on (with the exeption of my stereo and blower fans coming on). sometimes when this happens i can push on the brakes or turn on my flashers and my speedometer will quickly jump up to around 60 and then go back down.

If anyone knows what could be causing this, please respond.
in advance, thanks for your help.
