power steering problems? 200 1983

can anyone give me some advice on checking and adjusting the pressure in the power steering rack? I have had problems getting the front end on my 83 240t wagon aligned even with new tie rods, ball joints, etc... I just read a post about adjusting the steering rack pressure after replacing it with a used rack and thought that this might be the problem with my car. Any advice on how to check and adjust would be appreciated.
