Cons of cutting front springs 900

I own a 91 940T and would like to drop the front end about 1.5 inches. I would like to be done right. I know I can buy lowering springs but I don't want he back any lower, plus lowering springs would make the car too low. My next option was to cut the springs. My only question is, if I have this done what are the con's or down sides of cutting the springs to where I want them?? Thanks in advance fellow brickters!
