A/C air flow drops - 1993 240 Wagon 200 1993

I've got a '93 240 wagon with 120K. The A/C seems to work ok for the first hour or so during a trip, but then the amount of air from the vents seems to dramatically diminish until it almost stops, even though the fan blower keeps on chugging. I can even turn it up to level 4, but it doesn't have any effect. In fact, the small amount of air coming out of the vents seems to become warmer.
Any thoughts?
