A Simple Oil Question 900

Here is a relatively simple question, I think. My wife and I just purchased a '91 940 Turbo Wagon and we love it. I am hoping to change the oil soon but I want to know some real world experiences with oil and the longevity of turbos. The owner's manual calls for SAE 15W/40. Is this the best weight to use? I live in New Mexico, my wife typically uses the car for shorter trips like hauling our kids around. It can get very warm here in the summer and we sometimes get stuck in stop-and-go traffic. Has anyone had any experience with Mobil1 synthetic. I have always used it in our other automobiles (a Porsche and a Mercedes Benz) with good results and I wonder if synthetic oil might help prolong the longevity of the turbo? How about synthetic blends (a little cheaper). Any advice or experience is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rob Herrera
