It depends on traffic conditions, but NYC is also a different creature entirely. I lived in the city for until just recently, and there is nothing I hate worse than actually driving there... I mean, goddamn why doesn't someone just close the FDR in sections and repave it/fix the damned drainage problems already!

I guess there might be a city in southeast asia that's as horrible to drive in, but there aren't many.

I will say, however, that the valve tappet adjustement was like a miracle for my brick. After having it done the engine was noticeably tighter, with better response, quieter running, and better mileage as well. I talked to my mechanic about it and he mentioned that it's one of those jobs he doesn't think to do unless people request it 9or it is so horrible it obviously needs it) and that generally stops being done after the owner stops getting the "volvo check list tune ups".
