misfiring 120-130 1968

I was getting hard starting and misfiring. New plugs cured it completely. The old ones were very sooty but not old - only about 20 hours running, but all of that had been standing still, idling, tuning the carb and some holding at high revs, but no load. I'm running a Pertronix and a single Weber 45DCOE, but otherwise the motor is standard.

Does that suggest that my coil is weak? The spark looks fine, but I don't know why the plugs would fould so quickly otherwise. Or is it just too much no-load running?
