Dreaded Kickdown Cable question. 200 1991

September 2001 I replaced my kickdown cable in my '91 244.

The gas pedal went from feeling smooth, to feeling binded up a bit. It continually got worse and worse until one day I snapped the cable.

So I hobble the car across town to the fixit guy, and 4 days, and 420 dollars later, I have a new kickdown cable.

ANYWAY, its starting to feel that way again.. kind of binding up.

I sprayed the top end with silicone, and that's not really helping much.

And the one I ruined in 2001 frayed and snapped inside the transmission.

SO, I am really curious what is causing the thing to bind up (or possible causes)

Because it's an expensive fix, that I don't want to perform yearly.

Now that I know I can get the cable on ebay for around 30 bucks, it won't cost so much (I believe dealer cost was 101 bucks)

And my friend is now the volvo tranny master, so we can probably do it ourselves with a new gasket set and cable.

But I'm just looking for known problems with the cable, or reasons it might bind up.

Thanks,

Luke
