740 turbo a/c died,blows fuse any suggestions 700 1990

Check that the wire leading to the clutch is not shorted or missing insulation. It is very close to the back side of the pulley. I am trying to assimilate anything that may have dealt with tightening the belt. The only thing I can think of is excessive play in the bearing allowing the pully to chafe the ac clutch wire.

Honestly I don't think this is it, but I can't think of anything else that tightening the belt would affect your fuse.

Also, be sure you have the right amperage fuse installed. I only mention this because the PO of my car put a 25A in which worked fine on everything but max ac.
