93 940 Brake ??'s 900

I need to start thinking about replacing the brakes on my 93 940 Wagon.
I may need new rotors in the rear for sure, I had it to the dealer to check out a rattle in the rear(fodder for another post!)and was advised that the rear rotors were warped. Although I do feel it all when braking or driving. The fronts were replaced at about 45K. It now has 66K on it. I don't need any high performance equipment, just standard fare.
Questions:

1. Are aftermarket rotors available and are they less expensive then the Volvo parts? How much should I expect to pay? Are they readily available or should I order in advance?

2. Do the front rotors need to be resurfaced each time pads are installed and is it difficult to DIY the new pads? Is the DIY process posted anywhere? Don't know if I saw it in the 700/900 FAQ.

3. What other acceptable pads besides the Volvo replacements do you gents suggest? Approximate cost?

Thanks! John
