condenser fan installed. Check this out??

The relay I used, I got off an old brick at the bone yards. Its a small relay, maybe about 1/2" to 3/4"square. Its metal, and it has a bracket on it , and I was able to slide it onto bar right next to the big fuse in the engine compartment(I pushed the fuse over just a bit).

Disconnect the neg battery cable before making any of these connections. You also have to make sure that all of you connections are made in the right place, and that all splices etc are tight, and well insulated.

The relay has a picture of its internal workings etched on the side.

1. Terminal 30 goes to the battery. (I put a 30amp fuse between the relay and bat).

2. One side of the fan is attached to terminal 87.

3. The other side of the fan goes to ground(I used the smaller bat gnd terminal.

4. To trigger the relay I spliced into one of the wires that go to the pressure switch (green wire, top of the reciever dryer).(when the clutch sets, you get about 12v there)

That wire(green) goes to either terminal 85 or 86 on the relay. Which ever is left from 85 or 86 goes to ground. (one of the screws that secure the bracket holding the engine comp fuse is a good ground point for this).

This set up will turn the fan on whenever the compressor turns on.

Im considering running the green wire to a switch on the dash, and then to the relay, so I turn the fan off, If I want.

Iam still concerned about my charging levels though. Im hoping that 13.05 volts will maintain the battery charge. Or maybe I need a bigger altenator, or something. I dont know.

Good luck

Lawrence
