The first problem could be caused by the Fuel Pump Relay. As the relay heats up while driving, it could die out, thus killing your car. There is some info on this in the FAQ under engine problems.

The "after washing you car effect" might be from a wet distributor. It might get wet after you wash with the mist going every where or something along those lines. Do you have a splash pan installed still under your car?
