Pulling apart the driveshaft at the splined section on a 92-960 900

Is there a trick to pulling apart the driveshaft at the splined section of a 92-960? I am replacing the hanger bearing and I can’t separate the shafts by hand. I did not unbolt the shaft at the differential hoping I could just pull off the front part.
