Curious failure mode 200

Yesterday, while driving at about 65 mph, my car (82 turbo, ic) just quit running. It still had partial electrial power - starter, windows, radio, fan, maybe some others - but the idiot lights on the dash didn't light up. When the car stopped, I got out and opened the hood, hoping to see something obvious, like a wire popped off a connection or something... but there was nothing.

After a few minutes, I got back in, turned the key to the "ON" position, and all the dash idiot lights came on... turned the key to the "START" position, and the engine started right up. Drove home, no problems.

I took the car to work again today. Went out to lunch. No problem. But -- then on the way home, it did it again. Died, no dash lights. Stopped. Waited a minute. Started again... but this sime it died again right away (no dahs lights again) and would not start. The car sits on the side of the road tonight.

Anybody ever had anything like this happen? Any ideas?
