Non-functioning A/C 200 1982

Hi -

>The freon appears to be "chock-a-block" full as they say, but I can't blow cold air.<

By full, so you mean you see no bubbles in the sight glass? Form the rest of your post, I assume that everything else works OK. Compressor clutch engages, blower fan blows, all that, right?

Unfortunately, the lack of bubbles also denotes zero Freon. When full there are usually a few, maybe a few seconds apart, visible in the sight glass.

My older 240's did not have the cut-off switch on the receiver/dryer. Is that the case on your system? If you DO have a switch, and the clutch engages, there is pressure in the system, and therefore the problem can be other than low Freon.

Does the cold/hot slide switch really shut off the water to the heater core?

Good Luck,

Bob
